PhD Student Teaching Assistant First Year Experience Coordinator Coming from an extensive background in public history, Jamie's research interests lie in exploring the intricacies of U.S. foreign relations during the Early National period through the lens of its interactions with Imperial Russia. Her work delves into how their diplomatic relationship illuminates broader aspects of American foreign policy during seminal conflicts like the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812. By juxtaposing the embryonic United States with the more established Russian empire, her work teases out a clearer picture of America's developing international identity. This comparison provides a unique vantage point from which to assess the United States' emergence on the global stage, offering fresh insights into its early international strategies and the formation of its national character. Jamie is proudly serving on the HGSA as First Year Experience Coordinator during the 2023-2024 academic year.
